EBSF RECEIVES J22 DONATION Great news! The East Bay Sailing Foundation has accepted the donation of a J-22! We would like to thank Dr. Merrill Liteplo, of Concord, MA for his generosity.
The J-22 will be available for lessons, charters for racing, and to Bristol Yacht Club members for day sailing.
EBSF is also seeking volunteers and donations to help get this boat ready for the 2013 season. Please contact Nick Cromwell at: (email@example.com) if you can lend a hand.
Further information on checking the boat out for day sailing will be sent out soon.
The East Bay Sailing Foundation and Bristol Yacht Club have embarked on an exciting new project to purchase a fleet of J-22 sailboats. This effort will provide students and members with a wonderful platform to learn more advanced sailing and racing techniques. As a shared resource these boats will be available for adult and junior sailing lessons, day sailing, and to charter for racing.
Rhode Island is the U.S. home of J-22 manufacturing. Originally built by TPI in Warren, new boats are now built by Waterline Systems, now housed at the TPI factory. J-22s are popular in New England and around the country because they can be sailed well by almost any combination of crews from teenagers to octogenarians – they require less muscle and reward good technique and skill. As the platform for the Rolex Womens International Keelboat Championship, J-22s are very popular with top women sailors.
